YouTube announced the launch of ‘New to You’, a brand-new feature to discover creators on July 9, 2021. This will help users in viewing content based on their personalized interests. With this, creators will gain a new height in engagement as their content will be getting more exposure. Becca McArthur, Product Manager at YouTube, explained the ins and outs of it in a detailed way.

You must be wondering how is it helpful to the viewers? Well, from now on there will be no more complaints about viewing the same type of recommended videos on your feed. Being different from the ‘Explore’ page, ‘New to You’ brings us all-new kinds of content from miscellaneous channels. But mind you, they will be based on your taste, i.e, where your interest lies. So, no more watching the repetitive type of videos! Also, you can access this feature, which will be rolling out within this month in two ways, i.e, as ‘New to You’ on refresh and as ‘New to You’ prompt.

‘New to You’ On Refresh

Appearing on the top of the home feed, users will be able to access ‘New to You’ on mobile. After tapping it, a whole new set of content recommendations will pop up which typically you don’t see.

‘New to You’ Prompt

While exploring and scrolling down your feed, a prompt will appear which will guide you to new recommendations. With the prompt “Looking for something different?” you will discover creators and content based on your flavour but they will be beyond your usual videos. This will only be triggered when you’re not finding something to watch.

Don’t compare the ‘Explore’ page with ‘New to You’. You may find it’s similar, but it’s actually not. The former focuses on showcasing content based on various trending categories like food, fashion, gaming, beauty, and so on.
