In a heartbreaking turn of events, Hawaii influencer Theresa Cachuela, 33, fell victim to a fatal shooting by her estranged husband, Jason Calchuela, 44, who later took his own life. The shocking incident unfolded last week in front of the couple’s 11-year-old daughter, scarring her for life. 

Prior Incidents and Restraining Order

Court records hint at a troubling history leading up to Theresa’s murder. The influencer had filed for a temporary restraining order against Jason just weeks before the tragic event. The restraining order, which had reportedly been granted, highlighted alarming accusations made by Theresa, including threats of self-harm by Jason in the presence of their children. The nightmare continued as Jason allegedly concealed himself in Theresa’s garage after the incident.

Questions on the Justice System

Despite the issuance of a one-year protection order and the surrender of Jason’s firearms as part of the order, the tragedy unfolded in a parking lot near Pearlridge Center in Waimalu.

Theresa’s mother, Lucita, has taken to GoFundMe to cope with the aftermath, setting up a page to raise funds for funeral expenses. The grieving mother expressed profound disappointment in the justice system, stating, “My daughter did not deserve this. She was trying so hard to get help, but the Justice system failed her.“
