Modern Love Mumbai was released yesterday and it’s the show we’ve been waiting to watch with Mumbaikars. Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra has been seen in many films, shows, series, short films, and so on. And it’s the spirit of the city that keeps the scenes subtle, and attractive and gives a kind of a rush when you watch it.
Modern Love is a co-production of Amazon Studios and the New York Times. This anthology series started in 2019 and it explores love in all of its complicated and beautiful forms, as well as its effects on the human connection. Each episode aims to bring to life a different story that has been inspired by the newspaper’s popular Modern Love column. The romantic comedy series has two seasons and it features a star-studded cast that includes notable actors such as Jane Alexander, Tina Fey, Andy Garcia, Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel, and John Slattery.
All stories are directed by six directors each, namely: Shonali Bose, Vishal Bhardwaj, Alankrita Shrivastava, Dhruv Sehgal, Nupur Asthana, and Hansal Mehta. The cast of the show is- Fatima Sana Shaikh, Chitrangada Singh, Arshad Warsi, Pratik Gandhi, Ranveer Brar, Masaba Gupta, Ritwik Bhowmik, Yeo Yann Yann, Meiyang Chang, Naseeruddin Shah, Wamiqa Gabbi, Bhupendra Jadawat, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Tanuja, Sarika, Danesh Razvi, Prateik Babbar, Aadar Malik, Dolly Singh. The show has a varied cast and features not just actors from the big screen but also some from web series and influencers like Dolly Singh. The show has also featured the renowned chef and YouTuber Ranveer Brar in an episode that explores a gay love story.
The interesting fact about the new season is that it has six episodes which are complete short films of around 40 minutes each. It follows men and women navigating matters of the heart and the spirit in the bustling city of Mumbai where every day brings a surprise- sometimes pleasant, sometimes displeasing.
