WhatsApp has been introducing new features including Communities, self-chat, unread message filtering, and others. The much-anticipated “Companion mode” is now being added to the app’s beta version by the creators. The feature was apparently under development when it was originally identified by WABetaInfo earlier this year and is now available on WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.22.24.18.
Users will be able to connect their WhatsApp accounts to other Android devices, such as phones or tablets, through this method. Simply install WhatsApp on an Android tablet if you’ve joined up for the beta.
Go to the “Settings” app on your main device.
Select “Linked Devices.”
And you can connect a second device using the automatically generated QR code that is displayed here.
The application will sync your chat history on your secondary device, just like WhatsApp desktop and the feature that is currently in beta, so some features, like the ability to view live locations and manage broadcast lists and stickers, are not yet available.
Users can simultaneously connect up to four devices using the Companion mode. All calls and messages on connected devices will still remain end-to-end encrypted for individuals who are worried about their privacy and security.
People who use an iPhone as their primary device and want to use WhatsApp on an Android tablet or phone may find the companion mode to be very helpful. It can take some time before the Companion mode on WhatsApp becomes accessible on your device because the functionality is being rolled out gradually.
