The “Fit India Mission” is a flagship programme initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The programme has now launched the ‘Fit India Champions’ podcast series in partnership with GOQii, a major stakeholder in the fitness sector that proactively manages health through its digital and multimedia technology. The ten-episode series will feature Paralympians and influencers engaging in conversations on fitness and give a peek into their lifestyle.

This podcast series features a diverse array of personalities, spanning from the nation’s celebrated athletes to inspiring para-athletes, accomplished mountaineers, and dedicated fitness enthusiasts. Through the podcast, these luminaries share profound insights into their daily fitness mantras, a sneak peek into their lives, and triumphant success stories.

The Debut Guest: Sheetal Devi

The ‘Fit India Champions’ podcast series is an innovative initiative that brings the remarkable accomplishments and inspiring stories of India’s sporting heroes to the forefront. Kicking off today, the first guest on the series is the stalwart Para-archer Sheetal Devi. She took the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou by storm with her gold-winning feat and propelled our nation’s name to greater heights.

Sheetal is the only active female international archer to shoot without arms and is expected to spearhead India’s challenge at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. She won the gold medal on debut at the Asian Para Games and a silver medal at the World Para Archery Championships last year.

I train for 6-7 hours every day, starting my day with stretching the bow and then start playing matches with my brother and sister. My inner mantra is ‘koshish karne walon ki kabhi haar nahi hoti’ and this helps me to win the matches,” revealed the 17-year-old archer from Jammu.

One of the fittest athletes in the world having fought obesity as a child, Chopra talks about the goodness of a healthy lifestyle and how it helps the mind to perform at its peak.

Stressing the need for fitness, the 26-year-old champ said, “The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has given the clarion call of ‘Fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz’, but you can go beyond the training time of 30 minutes a day. It depends on the needs of your body and that needs to be done with proper balance and not overworking your body.” Neeraj’s episode will be aired on February 10, 2024.
