It’s the month of Love. June is celebrated as Pride month to celebrate gender diversity and promote equality, acceptance, and harmony among all the communities. Pride month celebrates LGBTQIA+ communities all across the world, their rights, and their culture. LGBTQIA is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning (one’s sexual or gender identity), intersex, and asexual/aromantic/agender.

The month is marked by a spirit of resistance and acceptance as opposed to an attitude of shame. Pride is now recognized as a massive celebration including marches, and parades.

Four More Shots Please!

The first season of Four More Shots Please revolved around the four friends-Sayani Gupta, Bani J, Kirti Kulhari, and Maanvi Gagroo. The second season talked about a lesbian relationship. This web series is available on Amazon Prime Video. It is by Anu Menon and Nupur Asthana. The show has displayed Bani J dating Samara, played by Lisa Ray. It is a well-displayed mix of love, romance, and complications.

Made in Heaven

Made in Heaven released in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video is one of the shows which has talked about same-sex love in a positive way. Made in Heaven dealt with same-sex relationships, traumas, and struggles in a classy way. The series stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, Shashank Arora, and Shivani Raghuvanshi. Arjun Mathur, as Karan Mehra played a gay man in the show. Through his character, we get to see the struggle, prejudices, and homophobia that gay people go through in their lives, more specifically in our country.

The Married Woman

The Married Woman is a web series on the Zee5 platform that is adapted from Manju Kapur’s novel. It addresses social issues and taboos that people do not see fit for day-to-day conversations. The lead cast of the show is Monica Dogra and Ridhi Dogra. Along with these two incredible women, there is Suhaas Ahuja, Imaad Shah, and others. The show revolves around a married woman Astha and her search for individuality. The show is an urban relationship drama about women and their conditioning levied by society and her search to find herself.

Romil & Jugal

ALTBalaji has been the frontier person as a platform to portray gay characters without stereotypes on Indian screens. ALTBalaji has a gay romance story show Romil & Jugal. It is based on Romeo and Juliet’s iconic Shakespearean drama, the makers gave it a twist. Rajeev Siddhartha as Romil and Manraj Singh as Jugal romancing each other on-screen completely filmy style is something to watch. The show has also starred, Mandira Bedi, Hariman Dhanjal, Shrishti Ganguly Rindani, Manini Mishra, and Suchitra Pillai.

His Storyy

His Storyy was released in 2021, and it dealt with homosexuality and infidelity. The show is available on ALTBalaji. Satyadeep Misra, as the closeted Kunal, and Mrinal Dutt as the free bird Preet, have done a great job. His Storyy is based on Kunal and Sakshi’s successful marriage for 20 years with two beautiful children. His Storyy is a journey of two people, Kunal and Sakshi, trying to rediscover their ties to each other in the face of a crushing revelation. Actors Satyadeep Misra, Priyamani Raj, Mrinal Dutt, Nitin Bhatia, Parinitaa Seth, Rajiv Kumar, Charu Shankar, and Mikhail Gandhi are also the characters in the show.
