My go-to movie has always been a fantasy feel-good film with magic, balls, dresses, suits, and regal culture. I had to include it in this piece due to the recent release of the new adaptation of the film starring Camila Cabello. Camila Cabello, the singer behind hits like Havana and Senorita, marks her debut with this film. A modern variation on the traditional Cinderella films that we have all grown up seeing is that this time the fairy godmother is played by a gay black man. It also includes characters who are people of colour, which is refreshing to see.

This movie features Camila Cabello as the seamstress Ella, Billy Porter as the fairy godmother, Idina Menzel as the evil stepmother and Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine and Pierce Brosnan in supporting roles. The film is directed by Kay Cannon and produced by Leo Pearlman, James Corden, Jonathan Kadin and Shannon McIntosh, alongside executive producers namely, Louise Rosner and Josephine Rose.

Ella wishes to open up her boutique named, ‘Dresses by Ella’ along with lots of singing, dancing and finding the prince. The songs are sung by Camila and Idina, themselves. What different also is that this movie was ought to be released in the theatres which is now publishing on Amazon Prime due to Covid-19 and the social distancing as well as the lockdown it brings along.

The movie is set to released on the 3rd of September and I cannot keep my calm. And until my pen writes more for you, don’t forget to check out another article based on Sherni which is also an Amazon Prime Video film. TAP HERE!
