Instagram introduces a new video format by combining IGTV and Feed videos, termed as Instagram Video! Instagram’s @Creators and Roxanne Chinoy, Strategic Partner Manager, Instagram, India announced this exciting update on September 6, 2021.

Now, creating and discovering videos on Instagram is much easier than before. You will be able to engage with your audience more deeply with immersive storytelling. As mentioned by Instagram’s @Creators, “The new Video tab will be the home for this new combined video format.”

Operating Instagram Video

To upload an Instagram Video, just tap on the ‘+’ sign at the top right corner of the Instagram home page. After selecting Post, you can even add filters and trim your video before sharing.

Below are the mentioned new updates shared by Instagram’s @Creators:

✔️ 60-second Feed Previews
✔️ A new Video tab on Profile
✔️ Trimming
✔️ Ability to upload captions
✔️ People & location tagging

Also, Instagram’s @Creators shared that “Previews will be 15sec when a creator uses In-stream Video Ads.”  According to Facebook Newsroom, “Creators can continue to cross-post their videos through Stories and share via direct message. Using all our surfaces provides multiple ways for creators to tell their stories and engage with their communities. Video previews in feed will now be 60 seconds long, unless the video is eligible for ads — in which case, the preview will still be 15 seconds.”

Viewing & Analysing Videos

Viewers can tap anywhere on the video to enter the full-screen mode while watching videos on the app. They can also keep on “scrolling to discover new video content from creators that may interest them”, stated Facebook Newsroom. Instagram is also “merging feed post insights and video insights into one combined metric for businesses and creators” to understand the performance of videos, points out Facebook Newsroom.

Video Ads

As per Facebook Newsroom,With Instagram Video, IGTV ads are now called Instagram In-Stream video ads. Eligible creators can still monetize their long-form content, and brands can reach audiences engaging with long-form video. For businesses interested in boosting their videos to reach more people, videos must be no longer than 60 seconds in length.”
