It’s the sequel season in the Indian film industry. There has been a pattern of several stand-alone films now being turned into a franchise with multiple sequels to follow, depending on how well they do at the box office. We saw it with Hera Pheri, Munna Bhai, Gadar, Don, and many more. One such franchise is the movie Fukrey. After the OG movie came its sequel, and we will be able to see the third movie in this series tomorrow.
Fukrey 3 is an upcoming comedy film directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment. The film is the third installment of the Fukrey franchise, after Fukrey (2013) and Fukrey Returns (2017). Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha, Manjot Singh, and Pankaj Tripathi are back with the laugh riot. They reprise their roles as Hunny, Choochaa, Bholi Punjaban, Lali, and Panditji respectively. The film is scheduled to be released on 28 September 2023. Check out its official trailer right here:

The Franchise
The youth-comedy film franchise began in 2013 with Fukrey and was followed by a 2017 sequel, titled Fukrey Returns. Richa Chadha credited director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and writer Vipul Vig for creating such quirky characters and attention to detail for each. “The audience liked the films because each character is unique. My character had so much detailing, like her Nigerian henchman has a barcode on his neck, she wears a leopard print jacket. Pankaj ji’s character of Pandit ji worked because whenever he would speak in English, people loved him,” said the actress.
The Plot
The chemistry between all the characters and an absurd yet unique storyline are the qualities that have made Fukrey a successful film franchise. The plot of this movie series has essentially always been that the group of friends end up facing disastrously funny situations together and yet have each other’s backs through the trenches to get out of a new mess while making quick money. And this time, the gang is trying to make sure that Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha) does not win the elections in Delhi. However, there is more to it with a war tank and glimpses of another world spotted in the trailer that has left the viewers guessing.
The Soundtrack
The Fukrey franchise is known for its chartbuster songs as well. ‘Ambarsariya‘ from the first film of the series was a widely celebrated song and so are the title songs of each film. The soundtrack of Fukrey was composed by Ram Sampath. The song Ve Fukrey from the upcoming comedy film Fukrey 3 is out and it has the lead star cast Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, and Manjot Singh dancing along with Pankaj Tripathi.
The song is a peppy dance number that showcases all of them grooving with glamorous women on a spectacular set. The music video starts with a huge plane at the center of it and also shows Pankaj Tripathi demonstrating his dancing skills like never before. Ve Fukrey has been sung by Dev Negi and Asees Kaur and penned by Shabbir Ahmed. Tanishk Bagchi has composed the song which has been choreographed by Bosco Martis.
The next song from the film titled ‘Mashoor‘ has been composed and sung by Abhishek Nailwal. The visuals of the song feature the lead cast of Fukrey 3 moving around an election campaign in Delhi. Pulkit and Varun’s characters are seen planning to fight an election against Richa’s character.
Creators Spotted in Ve Fukrey
The content creation industry as a whole has come such a long way. Creators today are not just growing on social media and digital platforms but are acing the big screens as well. The Ve Fukrey music video features content creators Twarita Nagar and Juhi Bhatt along with actor Sanchi Rai.
All 3 girls look absolutely stunning. They have killed it with their moves and expressions while performing with celebrities.
Their extensive and thorough practice shines through the music video. The three girls are spot on with the Ve Fukrey hook step. They are so effortless while dancing and being on camera.
The creators and actors grooved to the beats of Tanishk Bagchi and nailed Bosco Martis’ choreography. Twarita, Juhi and Sanchi were dressed in the most gorgeous attire, looking glamorous from head to toe. This is a big win for the creator community.
Missing Ali Fazal
Some are speculating that Ali Fazal has a surprise cameo in the movie. He had featured in the earlier two installments as Zafar Bhai, is not part of the new film. Commenting on Ali’s absence, Pulkit Samrat said, “We actually miss him a lot. We have a lot of fun with him during the promotions or even during the shoot. He also gives very interesting inputs, but unfortunately due to his dates and time he will not be seen in Part 3, but who knows, he might be in Part 4.” Richa, who is married to Ali Fazal in real life, added, “In the film Bholi is with Choochaa, she doesn’t really think about Zafar Bhai.”
The Challenges
Sequels are not always easy. There is always uncertainty regarding its performance. In this case, Fukrey 3 will have to live up to the last two movies’ level or surpass it to be a hit. Sequels are also challenging for the actors since one needs to ‘relearn‘ a lot of things to get back into the exact same character as the initial movies. “Every character has something special. My character has a certain brashness. So you have to relearn if the gap is a bit more. But we had a director, who never let us off the hook. Within two-three days (of shoot) you are in the character, before that, we do readings and all. He ensures that he gets whatever he wants,” said Richa.
