From OTT to Theatre: Sakshi Singh Takes on the Female Lead in Mahesh Bhatt’s “Wo Subah Hum Hi Se Aayegi”

Mumbai, September 2026: Actor Sakshi Singh makes her theatre debut with Wo Subah Hum Hi Se Aayegi, a Hindi stage production presented by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Moonlight Films & Theatre Studio. Sakshi takes on the role of Kavita, the female lead opposite Imran Zahid, marking a new chapter in her acting journey as she moves from the screen to the stage.

Known for taking on varied roles across formats, Sakshi has steadily built a diverse body of work spanning OTT, films, short-form fiction, micro-dramas and advertising. She made her OTT debut with Netflix India’s dating reality show In Real Love, hosted by Rannvijay Singha and Gauahar Khan.Since then, she has worked across films, fiction and short-format projects, including Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur, Amit Bhadana’s Mera Junior and Dice Media’s High Heels Season 2, where she worked with Kishwer Merchant. Her other work includes Midnight Confessions and the micro-drama Crorepati Se Accidental Shaadi.

Written by Dinesh Gautam and directed by Tarique Hameed, Wo Subah Hum Hi Se Aayegi features music by Anu Malik and lyrics by Quaiser Khalid (IPS). Set in the early 1990s, the play follows Ajay, a young man who leaves his small town with the dream of becoming an IAS officer, and traces his journey through UPSC preparation, financial struggles, friendship, love and failure, exploring themes of ambition, resilience and the courage to keep moving forward despite setbacks.

Sakshi plays Kavita, an energetic, fearless and optimistic woman in her late 20s who becomes an important part of Ajay’s personal and emotional journey. With this role, Sakshi adds live theatre to her evolving repertoire, taking on a more character-driven performance that allows her to connect with audiences in real time and explore a new dimension of her craft.

Speaking about her theatre debut, Sakshi Singh says, “Theatre has been a completely different experience for me. With a camera, you have the opportunity to revisit a moment, but on stage you have to live through it in real time. Playing Kavita has pushed me to be more present, trust my instincts and understand the character beyond what is written on the page. I’m excited to explore this side of acting and see where theatre takes me next.”

For Sakshi, the move to theatre comes at a time when her career continues to expand across multiple storytelling platforms. From OTT and feature films to short-form fiction, micro-dramas and advertising, her body of work reflects her interest in experimenting with different formats and characters. Her theatre debut further adds to that journey, giving her an opportunity to work with a live audience and engage with the craft of performance in a more immediate and immersive setting.
