For creators who build massive communities online, transitioning from short form digital content to mainstream entertainment can often feel like an entirely different challenge. But Bhagyashree Sharma, popularly known online as Bhagya Bro, is now stepping into that next phase with her reality show debut on ZEE5’s upcoming comedy cooking series “Maa Hai Na”.
Unveiled by ZEE5 on Mother’s Day, the 10 episode non fiction series blends cooking challenges, humour, emotional conversations, and family bonding into a format designed around the relationship between Gen Z personalities and their mothers. Hosted by Shilpa Shetty Kundra, the show also marks Shilpa’s OTT hosting debut.
For Bhagyashree Sharma, however, the project feels particularly personal.
In recent years, Bhagyashree Sharma has established herself digitally through her content that includes Assamese comedic videos and fun skits that resonate well with her young audience base. With a huge following of over 1.3 million people, her videos have been popular because of their realism, good story-telling and her very relatable persona.
Now, this rising popularity is leading her into reality-based OTT shows.
“Maa Hai Na” features Bhagyashree along with her mother in an episode that goes beyond conventional story-telling by focusing on real-life relationships and experiences. This show is a combination of food challenge scenes that become very chaotic and fun all at once.
“Maa Hai Na” has been produced by Lil Frodo Productions House, and the show focuses on exploring the conflict as well as relationship between contemporary youth culture and the wisdom of a mother figure. It is not only about the kitchen anymore, because the kitchen has transformed into a place where people talk, disagree, share emotions, compete, and showcase their generational gaps.
Speaking about the experience itself, Bhagyashree mentioned that the show has been an amazing chance to spend quality time with her mother in the kitchen. She also noted that it was the perfect time to try something completely new beyond social media. Transitioning from a content creator into a reality star has become one of the trends in the entertainment business nowadays, but the most remarkable thing about Bhagyashree’s transformation is its authenticity.
With the emergence of creators on entertainment platforms, this is not a new trend. However, success comes from whether the viewer feels like they are watching the same individual they were initially following.
Being relatable has always been the biggest advantage for Bhagyashree Sharma. “Maa Hai Na” has been crafted in such a way that this becomes an integral part of the plot.
As compared to glamorizing reality television, it takes help from normal family situations, raw emotions, and even fun conversations. All of these are very natural with the kind of content created by Bhagyashree Sharma.
