WhatsApp will soon release a feature that will allow users to send photos and videos which can be only viewed once. View Once feature allows users to send media as a message which disappears soon after it is opened. View once feature is a common sight in Instagram DM where a bomb like timer appears when the image/video is opened which cannot be paused unlike the ‘allow replay‘ feature. By adding a view once feature to WhatsApp, Facebook will be giving its all three social media platforms a common interface. It has already added stories to WhatsApp (after releasing the feature for Instagram and Facebook apps) to justify its aim.
WABetaInfo shared images of what the feature will look like when available.
“WhatsApp will release a feature that allows you to send photos and videos that can only be viewed once. You can also verify if the recipient has opened the media. This feature will be available in a future update on #WhatsApp for Android, iOS and Web/Desktop.” writes WABetaInfo on their Twitter.
Currently the feature is under work in progress (WIP) but WhatsApp will make it available to all the versions of the app in a future update.
