WhatsApp has introduced a new setting for Archived Chats. As per WhatsApp the new chats setting will keep archived chats in the archived section thereby ensuring they do not pop out. In an Instagram post WhatsApp said. “Archive on WhatsApp lets you organize your private messages and prioritize important conversations. Your Archived chats will now remain archived and muted but you can always change them back!“
The Archived Chats feature on WhatsApp allows users to organize their private messages and make important conversations a priority. This new feature also acknowledges user demands of preventing archived chats from popping out and remain hidden in the Archived Chats folder.
“We know that not everything always needs to be front and centre for you. We want to make sure that WhatsApp remains a private and secure place where you can speak to the people who are most important to you and where you’re in control of your messages,” WhatsApp said in a statement.
On iOS: Swipe right on a chat to get the Archive option and tap on the option to archive the chat.
On Android: Long press the chat and tap on the Archive icon (an icon with a downward arrow)

How do you un-archive? I swiped by mistake and don’t know what I archived so can’t search for it.
The faq mentions an archive icon but that’s not there in my new interface.
