WhatsApp introduces “Call Links” to make group audio and video chats Easier

A new ‘Call Links’ feature for WhatsApp has been announced, allowing a user to share a link to invite users to a group chat within the app.

The Call Link option will be visible in your “Calls” tab when it becomes available (the feature is being rolled out this week), allowing users to create a shareable link to invite people to your chats.

As you can see in the tweet given below by Will Cathcart, you can now make special URL links for WhatsApp group video and audio chats, making it simpler for other users to participate in the conversation within the app.

It might be a simple way to improve community connections and encourage engagement, and brands might use it to establish more direct, intimate connections with influencers and supporters.

For instance, a user might host a private chat to talk about their upcoming product launch or to get input on potential updates.

A variety of ways to use the feature as a way to highlight particular audience segments and engage with them directly may soon be available, according to Meta, which also says that it is working on a secure, encrypted video calling for up to 32 people.

And that’s definitely something to think about as more engagement shifts to messaging tools.

In fact, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, pointed out the following as part of a recent product announcement:

“The majority of people use feeds to find content and messages to establish closer connections”

As a result, it might be time to start thinking about how you can capitalize on this change and better match users’ current means of connecting in order to increase community engagement.

If you want to take advantage of the connective benefits of the medium, feeds may no longer be the best place to be in order to reach your fans as they are becoming more and more dominated by entertainment.

These new tools give users more options for messaging and messaging groups, which could be a crucial consideration in the future.
