In the latest movie 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse', we are introduced to Pavitr Prabhakar - an alternate, Indian version of Spider-Man who lives in Mumbai, India.

He was introduced in the comic book, 'Spider-Man India', a collaboration between Marvel Comics & Gotham Entertainment Group in 2004.

Early Life

Pavitr, the defender of Earth-50101, resides in Mumbattan, a blend of Mumbai and Manhattan, and was raised by his Uncle Bhim and Aunt Maya.

College Life

Pavitr moves to Mumbai for studies, facing bullying from fellow students, but finds solace and a sympathetic friend in Meera Jain i.e. MJ.

Pavitr's Villain

Shortly after Pavitr moves to the city, Nalin Oberoi, a Green Goblin-like Rakshasa or demon, massacres everyone in his village while searching for the amulet.

Pavitr's Powers

Pavitr has superhuman abilities like strength, speed, spider-sense, and the ability to produce webs, along with a keen interest in robotics.

Not The Same As Comics

In "Across the Spider-Verse," significant liberties are taken with his appearance and origin story, including changes to the setting.

Voiced By

Karan Soni leds his voice to the character in the latest movie, after playing Dopinder in the films Deadpool and its sequels.

Star Cast

Unlike the original dub, popular cricketer Shubman Gill has lent his voice to the character in the Hindi and Punjabi versions.
