LinkedIn Update – Mythbusting & understanding the LinkedIn Feed better!

According to LinkedIn’s official blog, a recent announcement of busting the myth of the members and helping them understand their feed better has come up. LinkedIn is an American business and employment-oriented online service that operates via websites and mobile apps. The platform is primarily used for professional networking and career development and allows job seekers to post their CVs and employers to post jobs.

Recently, LinkedIn updated to see more and more people turn their feed to participate in enriching conversations around the world of work, listen to diverse perspectives, and to be informed about what’s happening across the world. Similarly, the LinkedIn teams have been constantly working on the feed to help elevate relevant and productive conversations that add value to the member experience, foster a sense of belonging and community, and empower members to connect with confidence and clarity.

A key piece of that work entails listening to the members to learn more about what they need and want from the platform. They continue to hear a resounding theme of a desire for greater transparency and understanding of how the LinkedIn feed works.

So they’ve received various questions about the types of conversations that are welcomed on LinkedIn, how content is distributed on the platform, how the algorithms serve certain communities, and what LinkedIn does to address bias.

Starting today and over the next several weeks, LinkedIn would be publishing “Mythbusting the Feed”, a series of blog posts and on-platform content that will address these and other questions, aiming to provide greater insights into how the product works, and address the common misconceptions and assumptions. The ultimate goal is to be transparent with their members and the feed, and how things work.

The video of the series expands on two questions, “What kind of conversations are welcomed on LinkedIn?” and “What does it mean to be professional when it comes to content on LinkedIn?” Check them out below!
