The credit for popularising punk rock in mainstream music and adding commercial success to it solely goes to Green Day. Green Day gained widespread popularity with their third studio album, “Dookie,” released in 1994. The album included hit singles such as “Longview,” “Basket Case,” and “When I Come Around.” Dookie put Green Day up the charts and became a musical sensation around the globe.

Over the years, Green Day has released several other successful albums, including “American Idiot” (2004). This became their biggest commercial success and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. The album spawned hit singles like “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” Their sound evolved to incorporate elements of alternative rock and pop punk. Boulevard of Broken Dreams to date gets people feeling all the feels and the lyrics are used by making captions to express their emotions.

The band continued to release albums and tours regularly, maintaining their popularity. Some of their other notable albums include “Nimrod” (1997), “Warning” (2000), “21st Century Breakdown” (2009), and “Revolution Radio” (2016) which helped them maintain their status as the most influential punk rock band of our generation. 

Their latest releases have been The Father of All Motherfuckers (2020) and the cover they did for Blondie’s “Dreaming”. The band formed The Network in the late 1990s as a way to experiment with a different sound and musical style. The Network’s music is characterised by a more new wave and electronic sound, distinct from Green Day’s punk rock style.

 Their debut album, “Money Money 2020,” was released in 2003 and featured tracks such as “Supermodel Robots” and “Roshambo.” 17 years later, The Network released Money Money 2020: Part II Told Ya So! In 2022, Green Day was announced as the headliner for the 5th Annual Innings Festival which happened in Arizona.
