Bigg Nerds Interview

How would you describe the dynamics and collaboration within your group, and what factors contribute to your successful teamwork in content creation?

Shravan Chauhan We like to distribute roles among ourselves, so first, we brainstorm and generate ideas, and then we all sit down to discuss and execute those ideas. We carefully consider each idea and see which one is better suited for our content.

Chirag LimbachiyaOur editor, Sharat Kumar, plays a versatile role as he not only shoots the video but also acts in some instances. Chirag Mahdo, on the other hand, thrives on the creative side. If you give him a story, he will add his own twists to make it more crisp and funny. Shravan excels at framing and brings his own creativity into the process. Meanwhile, Ansh and I shine when it comes to the acting part. Together, all five of us work towards our common goal of creating the best content possible.

Ansh ChopraWe believe in teamwork right from the start, and the plus point of our group is that we share a strong bond. When someone proposes an idea, we trust their vision and believe it to be the best idea. This mutual understanding and faith in each other have contributed to our success in creating content together.

Are there any clashes in your group? If yes, what kind of clashes do you face?

Ansh ChopraAbsolutely, there are clashes many times regarding ideas. For example, I have thought about a comedy idea where a character is sitting, and I say that the character will say this, but the other person insists that the character would say something else. As a result, there is always a bit of playful banter (nok-jhok) in such situations.

Chirag LimbachiyaWe always end up solving such clashes by combining both ideas and then shooting scenes from those two perspectives. Later, during the editing process, we figure out which one looks better.

Ansh ChopraAnd then the final call is always made by the edit team in the backend. They are the ultimate decision-makers. The whole process is fun; I mean, I really enjoy making videos. From a very young age, I always wanted to work on something that would allow me to spend time with my friends, a job where I can enjoy myself, and it should always feel like I’m doing great work. So, I’m genuinely happy to do what I’m doing.

Shravan ChauhanI used to watch a lot of movies like Golmaal, Dhamaal, and Chup Chup Ke. The dialogues they had were so memorable that during my school days in Kalyan, I would always recreate those iconic lines. We responded to our teachers with comebacks from these movie dialogues. Doing this over the years made me truly believe that I want to pursue comedy wholeheartedly. From the beginning, I had this mentality of wanting to live and enjoy life with my circle of friends and grow together. Even though I’m working a job, Ansh is also working, but Chirag isn’t. Still, we share the same mentality of working towards the same goals.

How do you maintain a balance between personal content creation and corporate life?

Ansh ChopraThe schedule we have is possibly very difficult and different, but we try to dedicate 2-3 hours of our life to the page because it’s a never-ending loop. For example, if you post a video now, regardless of the response it gets, you have to keep on creating content. So, we try to manage our time, meet at our spot, write content, and shoot. However, mostly our content is shot on weekends, and that’s when we carefully allocate our time.

What is the story behind the name “BIGG NERDS”?

Chirag LimbachiyaSo actually, we initially had no plans, but when we started doing it, all of us are big Bollywood lovers except for Chirag Mahto, he’s into Hollywood. So, he always wanted a fancier name, and then he suggested “nerd,” which means crazy, and that’s exactly what our content is like. So, that’s how the name “BIGG NERDS” came about.

Ansh ChopraA lot of people trip on this name, confusing it as “beginners” or “big nerd,” but it actually means a group of people that are crazy, and our content is crazy too. We create content to entertain them in their busy lives. When they come to our page and watch our videos, they realize that we are actually funny, and they decide to follow us. So, basically, I want to entertain them in a way that they thoroughly enjoy and laugh.

Could you please share your thoughts and feelings regarding your first viral video?

Chirag LimbachiyaSo, it was another random day, and originally, we were planning to shoot something else. However, this time, it was the first video where we dressed up as characters with proper roles. The idea for the video on “P town” was shared with us by our editor.

Ansh ChopraSo, we initially thought that it was a very different genre, and we won’t be able to do it. However, our editor convinced us to give it a try. After half an hour of posting it, I realized that the video already had 15k views and the funny thing is when Chirag insisted on closing it immediately because he believes that watching the video affects the views. On the other hand, I got really excited and was bursting with happiness. It was the first time that, after a year of doing this, we saw such a result. We used to often get disappointed and rethink if we were doing the right thing because we hardly got any likes, views, or followers. But this reel acted as a turning point in our lives, and we still watch that video and feel that the content is so great.

Chirag LimbachiyaSoon after this slowly, people started recognizing us and began doing the P-town hand gesture to us.

Shravan ChauhanThis was the first time we were doing a character of this sort, with oversized tees, big blingy chains around our necks, rings on all fingers, painted nails, and colored hair. When people see us now, they get a little doubtful, thinking that we looked like that in the viral video. So, they would get confused and try to confirm before approaching us. I remember one time when there was a guy following us near 4 Bungalow, and then we finally confronted him, confirming that yes, it was us only.

How many videos did you make before the viral video blew up? And what kept you motivated and kept you guys going?

Ansh Chopra Around 100 videos were made before this viral video, and we used to keep motivating ourselves to keep going.

Shravan Chauhan There was a time when I lost all hope and questioned myself, “What the hell am I even doing?” But look now, in my office also, my bosses now support me and encourage me to shoot videos on the office premises.

Ansh ChopraThe 2K followers that we had on our page were people who already knew us, either from our college or our neighborhood. They used to take us as just someone who makes videos and didn’t give us that much importance. But now, things have surely changed, and the perspective they have for us is very different.

Bigg Nerds Interview

What has been your biggest learning from this experience, and has the process changed?

Ansh ChopraThe process is the same, but yes, the thinking has surely changed. Earlier, I used to think that certain things might not be possible, but now I feel that if we are positive, then anything is possible. I mean, the things that you work hard for will happen if not today, then maybe later, but for this, you have to be very patient.

Chirag Limbachiya I feel that our biggest motivators are our audience; they give us so much love, especially the people from P-town.

Ansh ChopraThey often make us feel like celebrities, so it’s always a special thank you from us to them from our hearts. We really feel great that we make content for them, and they appreciate us a lot. So, we are beyond grateful for that.

Sure, let’s do a quick round where you share two things about each of you that nobody knows.

Ansh ChopraFor Chirag, the two things are that first, he takes a lot of time for everything. If you have to go somewhere, inform and make him wake up 2 hours prior. He’s a little slow. The second thing is that he is very secretive in nature. Whatever he does, he won’t share it, so you won’t know until it’s done and out there. The good part about him is that he’s a fun-loving, playful person and is very friendly. For Shravan, the two things are that even though he might look slim, he eats a lot, I mean a lot. The second thing is that he has a great following when it comes to girls.

Chirag Limbachiya For Ansh, whenever we shoot, he tries to create anger among the members to get the right action for the scene. The second thing is that when Shravan and I are shooting, Ansh mumbles the words from behind the camera and concentrates on all the dialogue. He makes sure I’m saying all the dialogue properly. For Shravan, as Ansh said about the following he has with girls, other than that, he’s a very clean and hygienic person. He’s always late, but it’s understandable because he travels from far.

Shravan Chauhan – For Ansh, is a huge animal lover, especially dogs. The second thing is that he’s a big Siddhu Moosewala fan. There are two stories confirmed from his profile that are about him and his dog. For Chirag, I would say the same thing he is very hygienic (everybody laughs). Wait, let me think… He is cute, and that’s it.

Which social media stars do you desperately want to collaborate with?

Ansh ChopraShantanu Rangnekar – I really like him in terms of content creation. He does it very differently, so for me, obviously, it’s him.

Chirag LimbachiyaKaran Sonawane, aka FocusedIndian – I love how he acts and adds his special touch to his content.

Shravan ChauhanJustNeelThings – I have seen all of his videos, and the best part is his anger and the way he builds it; it is amazing.

What more content can we expect in the coming days, and what are your future plans?

Chirag LimbachiyaThe plans are for long-format videos on YouTube.

Ansh ChopraInstagram becomes a little restricted because of time, so on YouTube, we want to explore acting. I feel that a lot of people might not see my acting, so I’ll get satisfied when I can fully showcase my skills in long-format videos by playing different characters. This way, the audience can see the different genres we can perform and act in, irrespective of whether it’s comedy or a monologue. We want to explore everything.
